Junagarh: In a plot similar to the Ajay Devgn-starrer Drishyam, the skeletal remains of a woman were recovered by police 13 months after she went missing in Gujarat's Junagarh. The prime suspect, 28-year-old Hardik Sukhadia, managed to dodge the police for all these months. He had successfully passed the layer voice analysis (LVA) test at the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Gandhinagar, reported The Times of India.
The test is conducted to understand a suspect's state of mind. The deceased has been identified as a 35-year-old married woman, Daya Savaliya. She was a of Rupavati village in Visavadar taluka of Junagadh district. Savaliya went missing on January 2, 2024.
Notably, a missing complaint was lodged by Savaliya's husband days after she reportedly left the house with gold jewellery and around Rs 9.60 cash. The complaint was filed at the Visavadar police station. The couple has an 11-year-old son.
In the investigation, the police came to know about Savaliya's extramarital affair with Sukhadia. From the start, Sukhadia was the prime suspect. However, he misled the investigators with a false story that Savaliya eloped with a man named Rahul as she was having an affair with that guy, reported TOI.
However, the police could not arrest Sukhadia due to the lack of evidence. After collecting circumstantial and technical evidence, the police once again questioned the accused. This time, he confessed to his crime.
On February 27, the police took Sukhdia to the crime scene and recovered Savaliya's skeleton remains from a well. The remains were sent for postmortem.
It was found out that Savaliya wanted to marry the accused. However, he was not interested and then decided to kill Savalliya to get rid of her. He reportedly killed the woman on January 3 last year. According to the report, the accused took the woman to the outskirts of Hadala village in Amreli district and hit her head with stones. Sukhdia then dumped her body into the well. Notably, a day before the murder, Sukhadia and Savaliya stayed at a hotel in Kagvad village near Rajkot.
