Bhubaneswar: Students from Nepal on Wednesday expressed fear about returning to the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) campus in Odisha's Bhubaneswar. After several students left the university campus and returned to their homes, a conversation between one of the female students from the neighbouring country and an official of the KIIT university surfaced online.
"First you did this to us and not calling us back. Don't you know where Nepal is? We have come so far, how will we come back to the university?" the student told the university official over the phone.

The student further said, "What do you think, we stay five to ten minutes away from the university?"
When the official on the other side of the call insisted the girl to come back, she stated, "You threw me out when I was suffering from 102 degree fever. It will take me one to two days to reach home."
In the girl, the student said, "If you really want us back at the university, you should call our parents."
Protests erupted at the university following the alleged suicide of a 20-year-old student from the Himalayan nation.
Around 1,000 Nepalese students studying at KIIT were issued suspension notices and asked to leave the campus immediately on Monday after the chaos. Notably, the body of a student, Prakriti Lamsal, was found hanging from the ceiling of her hostel room on Sunday.
However, following the intervention of the Centre and the state government, the KIIT authorities tendered an apology and requested the Nepalese students to return to the campus.
Nepali students were reportedly dropped at the Cuttak railway station by the university authorities. "We were forced to vacate the hostel without any fault of ours. The students from Nepal were agitated over the death of Prakriti as her previous pleadings with the authorities (over alleged blackmail by her former boyfriend) were ignored. She died by suicide out of frustration," Preeti, a student from Nepal, told reporters as quoted by PTI.
A 21-year-old KIIT student was earlier arrested on charges of abetting the woman's suicide.
