New Delhi: Sandeep (30), a Delhi Police Constable was crushed to death by a speeding car in early hours of Sunday (September 29) in the city's Nangloi area. Two persons inside the car, including the driver, fled after the car rammed Sandeep's scooter and dragged for 10 metres. The constable was in civilian clothes and was patrolling the area following increase in robberies in the area. Delhi Police has confirmed death of constable Sandeep. Nangloi falls in western region of Delhi and is near Paschim Vihar.
About The Incident
The incident took place around 2:15 am near Veena Enclave in Nangloi. Constable Sandeep was going towards Railway Road from Nangloi police station. India Today reported that the constable signalled a car to stop when he saw that it was being driven recklessly. The driver however, did not stop and crushed the constable.
Constable Sandeep was then taken to Sonia hospital and later Balaji hospital in Pachim Vihar. He was declared dead.
Delhi Police confirmed the constable's death and took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to offer condolences.
Media reports say that the police have identified the two persons inside the car. Search is on to arrest them.
"Two persons who are absconding. Sandeep is survived by his mother, wife and a five-year-old son. Delhi Police is saddened by the departure of a family member in such tragic circumstance," said Delhi Police as quoted by Press Trust of India (PTI).
A case has been filed under Section 103 of Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS).
