New Delhi, February 19, 2025: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday (February 19) announced Rekha Gupta as the new Delhi Chief Minister. She will be sworn-in as Delhi CM tomorrow in a grand ceremony which will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and all the BJP Chief Ministers among other guests.
BJP held its Legislature meeting in Delhi today and made the announcement after the meeting concluded. Parvesh Verma was one of the frontrunners of the CM candidates, however, the party announced Rekha Gupta as its Chief Minister in the National Capital.
Rekha Gupta was announced as the BJP candidate from AC-14 Shalimar Bagh. She declared total assets exceeding ₹3 crore in her election affidavit. Gupta, who is a professional advocate, filed her nomination with a detailed breakdown of her financial holdings and liabilities.
Rekha Gupta defeated Aam Aadmi Party's Bandana Kumari with a margin of over 25,000 votes in the Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 from the Shalimar Bagh constituency. The first time MLA has now been announced the Chief Minister of Delhi.
