In the first two hours of counting of votes, BJP zoomed past the halfway mark while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was seen trailing behind. The results will decide if AAP's political dominance in Delhi remains intact or is dented enough by the BJP for the saffron party to return to power for the first time since 1998.

AsNew Delhi: The counting of votes for the Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 began at 8 am on Saturday. The results are expected to be declared by evening. Voting for all 70 seats of the Delhi Assembly took place on Wednesday (February 5). Exit polls have projected a comeback for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Delhi after 27 years, with the party predicted to hit the majority mark of 36 comfortably.

The Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is expected to fall short of the majority mark, exit polls predicted. The Congress is predicted to get 0-3 seats.

The election results can be tracked on https://results.eci.gov.in from 8 a.m. onwards. Voting for the Delhi Assembly poll 2025 took place in a single phase on February 5. According to the Election Commission of India (EC) data, the approximate voter turnout after the Delhi Assembly election stood at 60.54 per cent, with the North East district recording the highest voting percentage -- 66.25 per cent.

BJP workers celebrate with fireworks, dhols and nagadas at the party office as the BJP is leading in the Delhi Assembly Elections Results.

As per ECI, Party-wise vote share is as follows: BJP- 47.01% AAP- 43.16% Congress- 6.59%

At 11:30 am

BJP leading in 46 seats, AAP leading in 24. BJP's Parvesh Verma leading in New Delhi seat against former CM Arvind Kejriwal.

At 11:00 am

As per the initial trends on the ECI website, BJP leads in 41 seats and AAP is ahead in 29

At 10:45 am

AAP MLA candidate Manish Sisodia leads against BJP's Tarvinder Singh Marwah in Jangpura assembly constituency.

At 9:48 am

BJP is seen leading in Muslim majority seats in early trends--- Ballimaran, Okhla and Mustafabad

At 9:35 am

BJP leading in 50 seats, AAP ahead in 19 seats while Congress ahead in only one, as per latest trends

At 9:20 am

As per the initial trends on the ECI website, BJP leads in 15 seats and AAP in 4

At 9:15 am

BJP crosses lead in 40 seats, AAP ahead in 23 seats.

Delhi Minister and AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj is leading against BJP's Shikha Rai from the Greater Kailash seat.

BJP crosses majority mark of 35 seats, AAP at 29 as per early trends.

BJP takes the lead in 21 seats, AAP follows with a lead in 10 seats, while Congress ahead in 1 seat as per initial trends.

Counting of votes begins in 70 seats.

- A young supporter of AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, Avyan Tomar reached the residence of Arvind Kejriwal dressed up as him to show support.

- Congress candidate from the Kalka ji seat, Alka Lamba, lashed out at BJP's Ramesh Bidhuri and Delhi CM Atishi. "I don't think the people of Kalka Ji have liked Ramesh Bidhuri, there was anger amongst the people due to his language... I believe that Arvind Kejriwal is going to lose his seat. Atishi also has to face immense anti-incumbency as she didn't work even after being the CM," Lamba told reporter.
