The Congress Party has expelled Acharya Pramod Krishnam from its ranks for a period of six years, citing allegations of anti-party activities. Party General Secretary KC Venugopal made the announcement via an official letter issued on Saturday.

The letter highlighted concerns over Krishnam's repeated statements against the party and noted instances of indiscipline. It stated that the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee's proposal to expel him had been approved, effective immediately.

Krishnam hits back at Congress

In response to his expulsion, Acharya Pramod Krishnam launched a scathing attack on Congress officials, expressing gratitude to the party leadership for liberating him from Congress. He called upon KC Venugopal and Mallikarjun Kharge to clarify the activities deemed detrimental to the party.

Krishnam's expulsion comes amidst his recent criticism of Congress and its leadership on various issues. His initial reaction surfaced on Sunday, as he took to social media, tagging Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

In a tweet directed at Rahul Gandhi, Krishnam emphasised the uncompromising stance on issues concerning Ram and the country. His continuous open protests on public platforms had drawn attention in recent times.

Krishnam had been vocal in targeting Congress leaders, particularly expressing discontent with their rejection of invitations to events related to the Ram temple in Ayodhya. Speculations regarding his potential switch to the BJP gained traction, considering his alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ideology.

Krishnam's entry into BJP?

Sources suggest that Krishnam might announce his entry into the BJP during the foundation stone laying program scheduled for February 19, which Prime Minister Modi is set to attend. The path to his joining BJP seems clearer following the Congress's disciplinary action.

Krishnam further criticised Congress officials in a press conference at Kalki Dham in Sambhal in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, lamenting the alleged insults faced by party leaders. He reiterated his commitment to Hinduism and expressed dissatisfaction with the party's handling of dissent within its ranks.
