Raipur: Former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel criticized Governor Ramen Deka’s address to the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly, asserting it offered no new initiatives and merely reiterated schemes from the previous Congress government.
Speaking to the media on Monday, Baghel accused the BJP government of simply renaming welfare programs initiated by Congress, citing examples like the renaming of Swami Atmanand School to PM Shri School and Khoobchand Baghel Swasthya Yojana to Veer Narayan Singh Swasthya Yojana.
He also condemned the BJP-led state government for discontinuing the collection of minor forest produce, stating that only tendu patta was being gathered under the current administration.
Baghel claimed the government presented misleading statistics in the Governor’s address, relying on data from the Congress government while falsely claiming progress.
“The Governor’s address shows no original thought from the BJP government; it is a collection of lies,” Baghel stated, adding that the state government had failed to implement any significant initiatives in its first year.
The budget session of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly began on Monday, setting the stage for intense debates between the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress.
