Bijapur: The body of journalist Mukesh Chandrakar, missing for three days, was discovered in a septic tank at an under-construction site owned by a contractor in Chattanpara, 2 km from his residence and 5 km from the Bijapur police station.

The discovery has sent shockwaves through the local community and media fraternity. Upon receiving information about the body, police quickly cordoned off the area and initiated an investigation.

As per the events unfolded, on January 1, Mukesh Chandrakar left his house in the evening, but his phone soon went offline. His brother, journalist Yukesh Chandrakar, began searching for him when he did not return home by night.

Unable to locate Mukesh, Yukesh filed a missing person report with the police next day. On January 3, Acting on a tip-off from the Chhattisgarh police, Delhi police apprehended a suspect linked to the case. The arrested individual is a relative of the contractor, who was already under suspicion.

Sources indicate that the contractor's actions raised suspicions among journalists and investigators. A septic tank was constructed unusually quickly on the contractor's premises, prompting doubts about its purpose. When the concrete was dismantled, Mukesh’s body was found inside.

The police are intensively investigating the case to uncover the motive behind the murder and identify all parties involved. The role of the contractor and his relative is under scrutiny.
