Nilgiri: In a shocking incident, a leopard entered a police station in Tamil Nadu's Niligiri causing panic. However, a major mishap was averted because of the constable on duty, who without losing his composure, closed the door.
The incident took place at Naduvattom police station on Monday at around 8:30 PM. The leopard, had come down from a residential area, a CCTV footage of the incident has been posted by an IAS officer and is going viral on social media.
While posting this clip, the IAS officer said the incident took place in Naduvattam police station, in which the leopard entered. However, the policeman acted wisely and closed the door of the police station and informed the Forest Department after the big cat left.
"A Leopard decided to inspect the Naduvattam Police Station in Nilgiris. Hats off to the police person on duty who calmly closed the door and called forest officials. No one was hurt. Leopard went back safely to the forest," IAS Supriya Sahu said on micro-blogging website X.
The video shows, the animal roaming around inside the police station for some time. The leopard entered through the main door and reached the inspector's room. After the leopard came out, the constable immediately closed the doors of the station.

According to the local media, the police informed the forest department and it is common for wild animals to roam around in areas near forests.
