Bhind: A shocking video from Bhind district has gone viral, wherein a senior IAS officer can be seen slapping a college student multiple times during an exam.
The incident, which took place on April 1 at the Deendayal Dangraulia Mahavidyalaya, has sparked outrage online after visuals emerged of the officer dragging the student from his chair and hitting him in a packed classroom.
In the footage, Bhind District Magistrate Sanjeev Srivastava is seen walking into an exam hall during a BSc 2nd-year mathematics paper, confronting a student, later identified as Rohit Rathore, before slapping him several times. Without warning, Srivastava pulls the student out of his seat and strikes him repeatedly.
A second clip shows Srivastava taking Rathore into what appears to be a staff room. He hands over a paper to another man, then turns back to the student and slaps him again while demanding, “Where is your paper?”
Student claims hearing affected after assualt
Rohit Rathore has since alleged that the physical assault affected his hearing.
“Because he is an IAS officer, I couldn’t say anything,” he told reoorrters. His silent endurance during the assault, seen clearly in the videos, raised questions about abuse of authority in academic spaces.
The exam centre is affiliated with Jiwaji University and was conducting undergraduate exams when the incident occurred.
Official defends action, claims exam racket underway
Speaking to NDTV, Srivastava defended his actions, claiming he intervened after receiving reports of “organised cheating.” According to him, question papers had been smuggled out of the hall, solved externally, and students were allegedly re-entering with the answers.
“I went there to investigate an organised cheating racket. I have also written to the university recommending that the college not be used as an examination centre in the future,” he told the publication.
