Nagpur: Minorities Democratic Party (MDP) leader Fahim Khan's house was demolished by authorities using a bulldozer in Maharashtra's Nagpur. Notably, Khan is the alleged mastermind of the violence that broke out in Nagpur last week. Khan was arrested on March 19.
The bulldozer action was taken against Khan for allegedly instigating violence that erupted in Nagpur city on March 17. According to the second FIR registered at Ganeshpeth police station, Khan allegedly incited a mob of around 500 people, leading to large-scale clashes, vandalism and attacks on local police.

On the night of March 17, a mob went on a rampage in central Nagpur amid rumours that a 'chadar' with holy inscriptions was burnt during protests led by VHP and Bajrang Dal demanding the removal of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb's tomb located in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district.
Large-scale stone pelting and arson were reported in several parts of Nagpur on March 17 after baseless rumours were spread mischievously claiming that a 'chadar' with holy inscriptions was burned during the VHP protests, according to the authorities.

Thirty-three police personnel, including three Deputy Commissioner of Police-rank officers, were injured in the violence. The police have arrested more than 100 persons in connection with the violence.

Fahim Shamim Khan contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Nagpur as a candidate for the Minority Democratic Party. against Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. His election affidavit stated that he had completed his education up to the 10th standard and was engaged in business.
According to his financial disclosures, Khan declared assets worth only Rs 75,000 and reported no liabilities or annual income. However, the affidavit also revealed that Khan had three pending criminal cases against him, though none were classified as serious. Khan received 1,073 votes in the elections.
