Shrikanth Sharma, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Mathura and Vrindavan, has publicly accused local authorities of failing to implement the directives of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, leading to severe traffic mismanagement in the temple towns. In a strongly worded social media post on Sunday, the legislator highlighted administrative lapses that have left key pilgrimage routes in disarray, causing inconvenience to devotees and residents alike.
Sharma shared alarming observations from his visit earlier that day, stating that between 7:45 AM and 8:00 AM, critical traffic points—including the multi-level parking zone and Prem Mandir intersection—were left unmanned by police. He further noted that unauthorised vehicles continued to enter restricted routes unchecked, while illegal parking near Varaha Ghat and Sunrakh Road exacerbated congestion. Temporary encroachments by street vendors and private vehicles, he alleged, have turned major temple access roads into perpetual traffic snarls.
The MLA reminded officials that CM Yogi Adityanath had issued strict instructions to streamline Mathura-Vrindavan’s traffic system, including clearing encroachments, designating vending zones, and ensuring smooth movement on routes to prominent temples like Banke Bihari and ISKCON. Naming senior bureaucrats—Shailendra Singh (Commissioner, Agra Zone) and Shailesh Kumar Pandey (DIG, Agra Range)—Sharma demanded urgent corrective measures, tagging them in his post for accountability.
