The Rajya Sabha witnessed some tumultuous scenes when BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi, while speaking during Zero Hour, insinuated that Opposition has been raising issues which various foreign entities have been bringing forth ahead of Parliament sessions to attack [ndian interests. The BJF also claimed a link berween Rahul Gandhi and international forces, including an investigative media platform, which was rying to destabilise India and charged that the Congress leader was a "traitor of the highest order.”

Citing the examples of the Hindenburg report, the recent indictment of an Indian business house by a US court, the Covid vaccine report, a BEC documentary on Indian farmers, the Pegasus report and the release of a video of violence against women in Manipur, Trivedi said over the last three years “there have been attempts to attack India’s established systems and interests on economic and social fronts through activities from abroad”. He added that these instances have increased “ever since India emerged as a strategic, economic and diplomatic power.”

Trivedi also quoted a French publication to state that foreign powers are funding the Organised Crime and Corruption Reporting Project which is associated with billionaire investor George Soros. In the past, the BJP has often attacked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for having close ties with the US businessman.

When Trivedi referred to the US court indictment of an Indian business house, the Opposition members got up to protest. However, Chairman Jagdeep Dhankar allowed Trivedi to complete his remarks saying, “we cannot allow the largest democracy to be made dysfunctional by ‘deep state.’” Trivedi then added that the Russian government too had stated that there was foreign intervention in India’s elections and that such a thing had never happened in the past. He then asked if the reports by foreign institutions on Indian matters were merely coincidental or deliberate and urged a probe into the matter.
