Patna: LJP (RV) chief and union minister Chirag Paswan on Sunday announced that he would contest upcoming Bihar assembly elections but avoided naming his constituency, leaving it to the people of Bihar to decide.

Addressing ‘Nav Sankalp Sabha’ organised by his party in Ara, Chirag said, “Yes… I will contest election from Bihar, for Bihar, and for people of Bihar. I will contest polls from all 243 seats. People of Bihar will decide from which seat in the state he should contest the election.”

“After losing my father, my own people ousted me from my house. Now people of Bihar are my family,” he remarked.

Sounding poll bugle from the state`s Shahabad region, considered as a tough electoral terrain for NDA, the 42-year old leader, son of late Ram Vilas Paswan, asserted that he would realise the dreams of his father, and work for ‘Bihar First, Bihari First’. “I will not rest until I make Bihar a developed state," he contended. Paswan had released the election manifesto of his party, named ‘Bihar First Bihari First’ for the 2020 Bihar assembly election.

While upping his ante against RJD and Congress, he said, "Jungle Raj’ was not only during the RJD`s 15-year rule, but it prevailed during 10-year rule of Congress. So, Bihar suffered jungle raj for 25 years."

Chirag said that Bihar was making tremendous progress under the double engine government, and also heaped praise on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister Nitish Kumar for taking various initiatives for the state`s growth. He has already made it clear that he was not aspiring for the post of chief minister as his decision to contest election from an unreserved seat should not be construed as his ambition for the CM chair. “There is no vacancy for the post of CM," he had earlier said.
