Ahead of the upcoming State Assembly elections, the Congress party on Friday announced a unique campaign to appeal to women voters in Bihar.
Addressing a press conference, Bihar Congress president Rajesh Kumar stated that Mahila Congress workers would distribute sanitary pads to women across the state. He said the party aimed to provide sanitary pads to at least five lakh women.
Kumar displayed a sample pack of the sanitary pads, which bore the text, "Mai-Bahan Maan Yojana (Mother-Sister Respect Scheme), All India Mahila Congress. Financial assistance for needy women – ₹2,500 per month."
The pack also has Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's image on it.
Speaking on the voter list revision in Bihar, Kumar accused the Election Commission of bias, claiming that the names of crores of people could be removed from the electoral rolls.

Earlier in the day, while speaking to the media, Kumar mentioned that seat-sharing discussions with alliance partners were still ongoing.
The Assembly elections in the state are expected to take place in October or November this year.
