According to The India Meteorological Department (IMD), the city is set to experience light to moderate rainfall from Saturday, May 10. Coastal areas, Maland, and districts of South Interior Karnataka are set to experience thunderstorms, lightning, and squalls.
IMD officials have attributed the wet weather to a cyclonic circulation in the Bay of Bengal, which is gradually moving towards Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. This system is expected to bring widespread rainfall across Bengaluru, Kolar, Ramanagara, Chikkaballapur, Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Hassan, Tumkur, Davangere, Shivamogga, Bellary, Chitradurga, and Mandya districts.

Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) shared a weather report on X (formerly Twitter) and wrote, "Scattered thundershowers and lightning are likely across the state, with scattered showers and moderate rains in coastal and Malnad districts, and scattered moderate rains in North Interior and South Interior districts from May 10 & May 12."
