Bengaluru Weather Report: Moderate To Heavy Rainfall Is Predicted In City Till May 31; IMD Issues Orange Alert

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted moderate to heavy rainfall in numerous regions of Karnataka on May 28, 2025. The minimum and maximum temperatures are set to range around 21 degrees Celsius and 26 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Bengaluru: The city is set to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. The city woke up at 05: 52 AM with cloudy skies this morning and it is likely to remain the same throughout the day. The minimum and maximum temperatures are expected to range from 21 degrees Celsius and 26 degrees Celsius, respectively. The city is expected to witness the sunset at 06: 42 PM. The residents will not get respite from the humidity and it is likely to be around 85 per cent.

IMD issues rain alert in Karnataka

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert in coastal areas as extremely heavy rainfall is likely to occur with thunderstorms and lightning. Meanwhile, an orange alert is issued in North Interior Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka as heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely with thunderstorms, lightning, and squalls. The rainfall is predicted with gusty winds reaching speeds of 50-60 km/h.

Rainfall is predicted in these regions

The rainfall is likely to occur in Mangaluru, Mudbidri, Dharmasthala, Puttur, Bantwall, Sullia, Bagalkote, Kalaburagi, Haveri, Raichur, Yadgir, Shivamogga, Belagavi, and Chikkamagluru, among others. Due to rainfall, there will be a possibility of temporary disruption of electricity in some areas, uprooting of weak trees and minor traffic snarls.

KSNDMC shared a weather report on X

Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) shared a weather report on X (formerly Twitter) for seven days and wrote, "Moderate to heavy rainfall and very heavy rainfall at isolated places in coastal & Malnad districts along with thunder and lightning are likely across the state today, #RedAlert has been issued by IMD. Heavy rainfall is likely in the remaining days."

IMD issued an advisory to stay cautious

The Regional Meteorological Department (RMC) issued an advisory for residents. The weather department has requested residents to stay indoors and avoid travel if possible. Take safe shelter, and do not take shelter under trees. As soon as rain hits, unplug the electronic appliances immediately and keep yourself away from all the objects that conduct electricity.
