Bengaluru: A shocking incident surfaced from Karnataka's Bengaluru where a 36-year-old techie killed his wife and then stuffed her body in a suitcase. The accused, Rakesh Rajendra Khedekar, left his wife's body behind in their rented south Bengaluru house before fleeing. However, Khedekar was arrested on Thursday within 24 hours after leaving Bengaluru.

The 32-year-old victim, Gouri Anil Sambrekar, was a graduate in mass media, reported The Times of India. She was in search of a job. Meanwhile, the accused is a project manager in a software firm. Recently, Kkadekar and Sambrekar moved from Mumbai to a rented house at Doddakammanahalli, near Hulimavu. The couple was living on the first floor.

According to the report, Khedekar informed his landlord about the murder at around 5:30 pm on Thursday. The accused told the landlord that he had murdered his wife the previous night and left Bengaluru, reported TOI. The owner of the house immediately informed the police.

After the police broke open the door of Khedekar's house, they found Sambrekar's body stuffed in a suitcase. A coordinated operation was launched with the help of the Maharashtra Police. The accused was arrested in Maharashtra at around 9:30 pm, TOI reported. During the questioning, Khedekar reportedly admitted that he satbbed his wife thrice after having an argument while having dinner.

At the time of his arrest, Khedekar was driving to Pune in his car. He will be reportedly brought back to Bengaluru on Friday.

The accused first drove to Mumbai and was arrested when he was returning to Pune. The body has been sent for postmortem.

“Body of a 32-year-old woman, Gouri Khedekar found near Ambedkar Apartment in Doddanekundi Village, Bengaluru. She was the wife of Rakesh Rajendra Khedekar. Her body was found in a suitcase. The husband and wife were living in Hulimavu police station limits. Both belonged to Maharashtra. The body has been sent for postmortem," said Sara Fatima, Deputy Commissioner of Police of Bengaluru South-East Division as quoted by ANI.

A murder case has been registered at the Hulimavu Police Station. A detailed investigation has been launched into the matter.
