Air India 'Pee-Gate': Passenger Urinates On Bridgestone MD Onboard Delhi-Bangkok Flight; Airline Confirms Incident

A passenger allegedly urinated on the managing director of multinational company Bridgestone onboard Air India flight AI2336 going from Delhi to Bangkok.

New Delhi: A passenger allegedly urinated on the managing director of multinational company Bridgestone onboard Air India flight AI2336 flying from Delhi to Bangkok on Wednesday, April 9. The person who reportedly urinated on a fellow passenger is an Indian citizen, reported Republic TV.

The airline notified the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) about the incident.

The managing director of the tyre manufacturing company has sought an apology from the airline. The incident took place on the business class of Air India.

According to a report filed by the airline, the incident took place during the descent of the Airbus A320 (VT-RTS), when an Indian man, identified as Tushar Masand, seated in 2D urinated on Hiroshi Yoshizane, the Managing Director of Bridgestone India, seated in 1D.

When Yoshizane complained about the incident to the airline staff, the crew immediately relocated Masand to another seat and expressed their remorse for the inappropriate behaviour.

Senior cabin crew members Sunpreet Singh and Rishika Matre promptly assisted Yoshizane by offering towels and helping him clean up. He was then taken to the lavatory to change, and the incident was reported to the captain.

Meanwhile, another passenger seated in 1F, identified as Matthew, expressed unease and requested that Masand to be removed from the business class section citing safety concerns.

Following the incident, Masand repeatedly apologised to Hiroshi. However, Hiroshi chose not to lodge a formal complaint, saying that he doesn't want to spend additional time on the matter after landing.

Although no official complaint was filed, Masand received a verbal warning and was reassigned to seat 14C after Matthew refused to remain seated next to him.

Air India Issues Statement

An Air India spokesperson told ANI, “Air India confirms that an incident of unruly passenger behaviour was reported to the cabin crew operating flight AI2336, from Delhi to Bangkok, on 9 April 2025. The crew followed all laid down procedures, and the matter has been reported to the authorities. In addition to warning the unruly passenger, our crew offered to assist an aggrieved passenger to take up a grievance with authorities in Bangkok, which was declined at the time. The standing Independent Committee will be convened to assess the incident and determine the action, if any, to be taken against the unruly passenger. Air India continues to follow the SOPs as laid out by DGCA in such matters.”
