New Delhi: Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri encountered considerable online criticism after revealing that India and Pakistan had consented to end military activities. The Indian Administrative Service (IAS) Association expressed support for Misri, condemning the personal assaults directed at him. They reiterated their backing for civil servants and the dignity of public service in a post on X.

In the same vein, the Indian Police Service (IPS) Association denounced the mistreatment directed at Misri and his family, calling it "absolutely intolerable."

Misri has faced backlash, sparking discontent on social media regarding the government due to the recent ceasefire, viewed by many as a surrender to Pakistan. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is one of those encountering criticism, symbolizing a wider discontent from right-wing groups aiming at the BJP and Modi administration.

Misri's daughter, Didon, who graduated in law, encountered severe online backlash for offering legal assistance to Rohingya Muslims, as users circulated her previous work with global organisations. Misri, who acted as private secretary to three prime ministers and was India's envoy to China, came under scrutiny for claiming that an attack in Pahalgam intended to provoke communal tensions.

Far-right users connected Didon's activism to demands for governmental inquiries. This event underscores the difficulties encountered by diplomats and their families in India's present political environment, prompting inquiries into the Modi administration's position on these criticisms.

Misri's profile faced inappropriate remarks, leading him to set it to private because of the harassment directed at his daughter. Political figures, such as Shashi Tharoor and Asaduddin Owaisi, highlighted the importance of addressing wider national concerns and advised against holding civil servants accountable for political choices. Misri's declaration came after rising tensions post India's airstrikes on May 7, highlighting significant public rifts over relations with Pakistan, with right-wing opponents labeling him a "traitor." This event underscores the difficulties encountered by authorities in politically charged situations.

On Saturday, the Indian government declared a ceasefire 'agreement' with Pakistan, resulting in considerable backlash against Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on social platforms. This trolling generated broad backing for Misri from politicians, ex-diplomats, and journalists, including Congress leader Sachin Pilot, who denounced the assaults on diplomats. The IAS (Central) and IPS (Central) Associations showed support for Misri and denounced personal assaults on public officials.
