Locals spotted a crocodile crawling along Narhari Vishwamitri Bridge Road on Thursday night. The large reptile was captured by bystanders on their mobile phones, and video footage of the incident has since gone viral.
Upon noticing the crocodile moving across the busy road, several motorists stopped their vehicles to get a closer look at the creature.
The viral video shows the crocodile suddenly charging towards the crowd in an apparent attempt to scare away onlookers, who were filming the scene while shouting excitedly.
According to reports, this was an 8-foot crocodile that had wandered near Narhari Bridge along the Vishwamitri River, located behind the Commissioner's Bungalow near Narhari Hospital in Vadodara.
A rescue team arrived at the scene after being alerted, but faced significant challenges due to a large crowd that had gathered to witness the capture. After considerable effort, the team successfully secured the crocodile and handed it over to the Forest Department.

This incident follows a pattern of similar occurrences. Last year, heavy rainfall in Gujarat caused the Vishwamitri River to overflow, leading to hundreds of reptiles entering urban areas. The 17-kilometre stretch of the Vishwamitri River that flows through Vadodara is known to be home to approximately 300 crocodiles. During monsoon season, these reptiles often follow floodwaters into the city.
