Pain on the sides of the rib cage can be due to various reasons. This pain causes problem in breathing or any arm movement which can give strain on rib cage.
Symptoms
Sharp, dull, or aching pain on one or both sides of the rib cage.
Pain while breathing, coughing, or moving.
Tenderness or swelling in the affected area.
Muscle stiffness or tension.
Radiating pain towards the back or abdomen.
Pain aggravated by physical activity.
Causes
Musculoskeletal Issues like strained muscles (due to heavy lifting, sudden movement, or injury.
Inflammation of cartilage connecting ribs to the breastbone or rib fracture.
Inflammation of the lining around the lungs.
Pneumonia.
Gallbladder issues (gallstones, inflammation).
Gas buildup in intestines.
Nerve compression, for instance from a herniated disc
Fibromyalgia.
Home remedies
Avoid activities that worsen the pain.
Hot or cold compress.
Gentle stretching or yoga can reduce tension.
Turmeric milk – anti-inflammatory benefits can help relieve pain.
Ginger tea helps in digestion and reduces inflammation.
Magnesium-rich foods – bananas, nuts, and spinach help relax muscles.
Maintain good posture – avoid slouching to prevent muscle strain
Sujok Therapy

Both sides around thumb is an area for sides of chest. Massage them for five to eight minutes and apply dried peas seeds on the highlighted area (see above figure). Keep seeds for three to four hours or till you feel comfortable.
