Bollywood filmmaker Hansal Mehta penned a long note on X to praise Aamir Khan's decision to release his latest film Sitaare Zameen Par on YouTube. He called the pay-per-view model a smart and progressive move. However, he was trolled for using AI chatbot developed by OpenAI, ChatGPT, to write his post.

Soon after he shared the post, a user expressed disappointment over Mehta using AI for his post. The user commented, "Hansal, you are a writer and filmmaker. It's disheartening that filmmakers like you are using Chatgpt to express even their smallest perspectives... Whatever your opinion, it should be original, without relying on AI."

Mehta was in no mood to ignore the comment. Reacting to it, he admitted that he used AI to fix grammar in his post.

"It is my opinion. In my words. Grammar corrected by AI. React to the thought please," the filmmaker clarified.

Several X users supported Mehta and said it's not wrong to use AI to enhance content.

"So what if he is a writer? What's wrong in using tools to economize on time and effort? This is a platform for expressing your views, not a screenwriting competition," a user wrote.

Hansal Mehta's post for Aamir Khan

On Thursday, Mehta praised Aamir and his decision to release his film on his YouTube channel Aamir Khan Talkies.

"Aamir Khan releasing Sitaare Zameen Par on YouTube as a pay‑per‑view title after its theatrical run is not a threat to anyone. It’s a smart, forward‑looking move that deserves applause, not knee‑jerk criticism," he wrote.

The filmmaker added, "Our ecosystem is skewed toward instant gratification and a handful of giant spectacles. Theatrical windows are treated like rigid commandments, while OTT has become the only post‑theatrical refuge. So many thoughtful films vanish or languish. That’s neither sustainable nor fair to the diversity of work we produce. If this model works, it will embolden more producers to back films that don’t follow the herd mentality currently dominating the sector."
