Pakistani actor Fawad Khan, who also had a successful stint in India, is all set to return to Bollywood after 9 long years with his upcoming film, titled Abir Gulaal. The film also stars Vaani Kapoor and as the teaser was released by the makers on Tuesday, the desi fans of the actor went berserk and celebrated his comeback.

Abir Gulaal is reportedly a romcom and in the teaser, Fawad not only captivated the audience with his good looks and crackling chemistry with Vaani Kapoor, but also surprised them as he lent his vocals to the Kumar Sanu classic, Kuch Na Kaho. Vaani took to her Instagram to share the teaser and wrote, "The wait is over! Bringing love back to the big screen with Abir Gulaal and @fawadkhan81 (sic)."

Within no time, the teaser went viral and netizens bombarded the comments section of the post with love for Fawad, as the 9-year-long wait finally came to an end. "Earth is healing Fawad is back in India (sic)," a fan commented, while another wrote, "Bollywood is healing.. Fawad is backkkk! (sic)." "What is that voice Fawad!? (sic)," a user exclaimed.

While not much has been revealed about the film yet, it reportedly tells the story of two people who fall in love while trying to help each other heal. The film reportedly also stars Farida Jalal, Soni Razdan, Lisa Haydon, Ridhi Dogra, Parmeet Sethi and others in key roles. It is set to hit the silver screens on May 9.

Fawad was last seen in Bollywood in the 2016 film, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, co-starring Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. In the same year, Pakistani artists were banned from working in India, following the Pulwama attack.

In 2023, the ban was lifted, and in 2024, Fawad had announced that his Pakistani film, The Legend of Maula Jatt, which became the highest-grossing film of Pakistan, was scheduled to release in India. However, it faced strong opposition from several political parties, and theatre owners and distributors eventually decided to not release the film in the country.
