Plot
The movie serves as a prequel to The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, narrating the tale of two unlikely friends in the Land of Oz—Elphaba, a bright but misunderstood girl with green skin, and Glinda, a motivated and popular young woman. At Shiz University, the two students encounter each other, and their rivalry for a teacher's attention along with differing ideologies slowly develops into a deep friendship. What occurs afterward is disclosed in the movie.
