Actor and model Muzammil Ibrahim, who had dated actress Deepika Padukone for two years, recently made some shocking revelations about the Hindi film industry. From allegations against actress Pooja Bhatt, to Shah Rukh Khan's comment after he lost an award, Muzammil touched upon various topics during one of his latest interviews.
Who is Muzammil Ibrahim?
Muzammil is a model and actor, born in Jammu and Kashmir. He gained recognition by winning the Gladrags Manhunt India pageant in 2003 at the age of 18, making him one of the youngest winners of the contest.
He made his Bollywood debut in 2007 with Pooja Bhatt's action-thriller Dhokha, in which he played Inspector Zaid Ahmed Khan. He then appeared in films like Horn 'Ok' Pleassss (2009) and Will You Marry Me? (2012). In 2020, he featured in the espionage-thriller web series Special Ops.
Muzammil is best known for starring in the remix version of Pardesiya, which also featured Rakhi Sawant.
Beyond his entertainment career, Muzammil is also recognised for his acts of bravery. At the age of eight, he received the Jeevan Raksha Padak for rescuing a schoolmate from drowning. In 2008, he was honoured with the Godfrey Phillips National Bravery Award for saving a British woman from drowning in Goa.
Muzammil Ibrahim's viral interview
During a conversation with Siddharth Kanan, Muzammil revealed that Pooja Bhatt, who had directed the film Dhokha, was "extremely abusive" towards him. He also claimed that he suffered from depression and had nightmares because of her behaviour.
He said, "I went through hell during its shoot. I suffered a lot, and I was very young. I got into depression because of it. I used to have nightmares. Every morning, I would pray to Allah to save me from her."
Muzammil also shared that Mahesh Bhatt knew about the tensions on the sets of Dhokha, but he couldn't do much.
The 38-year-old actor also stated that he deserved the Best Debutant award that year, but Ranbir Kapoor got it for Saawariyaa, and he was not even invited despite being nominated. During the interview, he also claimed that Shah Rukh told him that he deserved the award for Dhokha.
Muzammil's relationship with Deepika
Muzammil also claimed that he dated Deepika for two years during her initial days in Mumbai. "It was my first actual relationship. Deepika proposed to me first. We broke up because I left her," he shared. He also said that the two were in touch until Deepika got married to actor Ranveer Singh in 2018.
During the interview, the actor also recalled their romantic auto-rickshaw dates during monsoon in Mumbai.
