The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had sent notices to many South Indian actors for allegedly promoting betting apps. One of them was Kingdom actor Vijay Deverakonda. On Wednesday, August 6, 2025, he appeared before the Enforcement Directorate office in Basheerbagh, Hyderabad. The actor got mobbed by the media, and one of his team members is heard saying, "Sir cannot talk."

Apart from Vijay, reportedly, 29 other celebrities have been summoned by the ED. On July 30, 2025, Prakash Raj appeared before the ED office in Hyderabad.
Prakash Raj On ED Investigation
After the investigation, he had spoken to the media and said, “As a citizen of this country, the officers had called on the money laundering of the betting apps, and I have come. It was something that I did in 2016, and later, on moral grounds, I did not pursue it. I gave them information that I have not received any money because I did not want to take money from that. They have taken all the details and we finished the enquiry, and that’s it.”
When the Wanted actor was asked if he thinks there’s any political motivation behind ED summoning him, he had said, “Nothing! Officers are doing their jobs, and as a citizen, I am supposed to cooperate and answer their questions. There’s no witch hunting or political motivation in this.”
Reportedly, Rana Daggubati was asked to appear on July 23, 2025. However, he has asked for a reschedule. Meanwhile, Lakshmi Manchu has been directed to appear on August 13, 2025.
According to reports other celebrities who have been summoned are Nidhhi Agerwal, Ananya Nagalla, Pranitha Subhash, anchors Sreemukhi and Shyamala, YouTuber Harsha Sai, Bayya Sunny Yadav, Local Boy Nani, and more.

Vijay starrer Kingdom, which was released last week, has done average business at the box office. In six days, the movie has collected approximately Rs. 44.40 crore. Reportedly, the film is made on a budget of Rs. 130 crore.
