Comedian Kapil Sharma has returned with the third season of The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix, with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan gracing the couch as the first guest. While the show was expected to deliver fresh entertainment, the response on social media suggests otherwise.
Several clips from the premiere episode have surfaced online, sparking criticism from netizens who have slammed both the makers and Kapil Sharma for relying on 'double meaning' jokes and repetitive humour. Many viewers took to social media to express their disappointment, calling the jokes outdated and lacking originality.
One particular segment that drew widespread backlash features comedian Krushna Abhishek, dressed as a woman, attempting to woo Salman with flirtatious banter. The clip quickly went viral on Reddit, but not for the right reasons. Many users called it 'cringe' and accused the show of promoting regressive comedy masked as entertainment.
Netizens react to the viral clip
"They have always been vulgar, double meaning, misogynist, body shaming that's their TSP," read a comment.
Another user commented, "Also very un- imaginative, n basic jokes."
"It was always like that. Kapil Sharma show was in prime when it was airing on Colors Channel. Now they don't even have anything original to show for. Seasons after season, same shit," read another comment.
"Netflix vaalo pe bhot paisa h barbaad krne ko, aur ab to sidhu archana dono agye hai🤦♂," an upset fan commented under the Reddit post.
"I stopped watching ages ago. 3rd class comedy," another person commented.

Some users also defended the show. "You tube pe isse zada adult comedy hoti hai. Lol," read a comment, whereas another wrote, "I don't think this is super funny, but I don't know if there's anything objectionable about this particular clip. Are double meaning jokes offensive from an objective perspective? I could understand if some people don't like that kind of humor, but I equally get why some people like it. It's so subjective. Why judge?"
Taking a dig at Krushna's act, a user wrote, "I thought crossdressing stopped being funny 15 years ago?"
"It was always a crass show from the beginning. Double meaning jokes have been a fulcrum of this show," read another comment.
The first episode of the third season streamed on June 21. The show saw the return of Archana Puran Singh, Sunil Grover, Krushna, and Kiku Sharda. Navjot Singh Sidhu has also reunited with Kapil for the ongoing season.
