Actress Kajol, who will soon be seen in the mythological horror film Maa, produced by her husband Ajay Devgn, recently addressed comparisons to Jaya Bachchan, especially regarding her interactions with the paparazzi, which have led some to perceive her as having a 'scary' image.

On comparisons with Jaya Bachchan

In an interview with Zoom, Kajol said, "I think right now it's all about really the videos; even the paparazzi, for that matter. They're waiting for you to say something. They coax you, they push you, till you have to! Not scream back at them, but at least say, 'Listen, guys, calm down.' You know, you don't need to yell and scream to get a good picture."

She added, "It's not about just clicking a picture or just clicking a video anymore. It's about a reaction that they want because it has a tagline attached to it, or they can attach some sort of a negative tagline."

Kajol's statement on Ramoji Rao studio being haunted

Recently, Kajol faced backlash after she shared that Ramoji Rao Studios in Hyderabad is 'haunted' during one of her promotional interviews for her upcoming film. Days after, she clarified on social media on Monday that the place is "absolutely safe".

Kajol took to her X handle and wrote, "I wish to address my earlier remark about Ramoji Film City in the context of promoting my film MAA. I have filmed multiple projects at Ramoji Film City and stayed there many times over the years. I have always found it to be a very professional environment for filmmaking and I have seen so many tourists enjoying themselves. It’s a great destination and absolutely safe for families and children."

About Maa

The film revolves around a mother, played by Kajol, who single handedly fights the supernatural to save her daughter. Maa stars Ronit Roy, Indraneil Sengupta, Jitin Gulati, Gopal Singh, Surjyasikha Das, Yaaneea Bharadwaj, Roopkatha Chakraborty, and Kherin Sharma.

Maa is slated to release in cinemas on June 27.
