The Diplomat Box Office Collection Day 1: John Abaraham's last solo-hero film that did well at the box office was the 2019 release Batla House. Later, his movies like Mumbai Saga, Pagalpanti, Satyameva Jayate 2, Attack, Ek Villain Returns, and Vedaa, all were duds. He did get a blockbuster like Pathaan, but one cannot ignore that the movie got such an amazing response because it was Shah Rukh Khan's comeback.
Now, John's new film, The Diplomat was released on Friday, March 14, 2025, and while the reviews have been amazing, the movie has taken a slow but a decent start at the box office. According to Sacnilk, the movie on its day 1 has collected approx. Rs. 4 crore. The pre-release buzz wasn't that great so an opening of Rs. 4 crore is surely not bad.
It was a holiday release, but Holi is a festival where people are busy playing with colours and hardly go to theatres. However, the evening shows must have given a boost to The Diplomat.
Now, the John starrer needs to show a good jump on Saturday and Sunday to collect a decent amount at the box office. If the film stays stable or shows a jump we can expect it to collect around Rs. 13-15 crore during its first weekend. However, if the movie drops, the first weekend collection can be around Rs. 10 crore which will be disappointing.
Reportedly, The Diplomat is made on a budget of around Rs. 50 crore, so the movie surely needs to show a jump over the weekend and do well on weekdays also to collect some decent amount at the box office.
There's no major release for next two weeks till Sikandar comes to theatres. The Diplomat has a good window to collect at the box office. So, let's wait and watch whether the John Abraham starrer will be able to sustain at the ticket windows for two weeks or not.
