Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan revealed that his family was deeply emotional and in shock after he was attacked at his Bandra residence on January 16. In his first interview after the attack, Saif shared how his wife, actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, and his children were shaken by the incident.
Recalling the terrifying moment, Saif told Bombay Times that his and Kareena's elder son, Taimur Ali Khan, innocently asked him, "Are you going to die?" The actor assured his son, responding, "No", before he was rushed to nearby Lilavati Hospital in an auto rickshaw.
Saif further mentioned that his older children, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan, were emotional and stood by his side throughout the ordeal.
He also revealed how Kareena 'frantically' tried calling people for help, but no one was awake at the time. "We looked at each other and I told her, ‘I’m fine, I’m not going to die'," he stated.

Jeh gave me a plastic sword: Saif
Saif said that his youngest son, Jeh, gave him a 'plastic sword' for his safety. "Jeh said, 'Keep this by your bed for the next time the chor comes'. He says, 'Geeta (househelp) saved Abba and Abba saved me'," revealed the 54-year-old actor.
Saif shared further details about the attack and confirmed that he is safe and recovering well.
Saif reveals what happened at that night
Recalling the horrifying attack, Saif explained what exactly happened at that night.
"Kareena had been out to dinner, and I had some work in the morning, so I stayed in. She came back, we had a chat and went to sleep. After a while, the househelp rushed in and said – 'There’s an intruder. There's a guy in Jeh's room with a knife asking for money.' It was around 2 am, I could get the time wrong slightly, but it was late. Obviously, I kind of lost it, and went in there to see and I saw this guy holding (what I thought were) two sticks over Jeh’s bed – it was actually a hexa blade," Saif told the news publication.
The actor added, "So he had a knife in each hand and a mask on. It was a surreal scene. And something just kind of took over and I just grabbed him. I ran and pulled him down, and then we were wrestling. He was thumping me as hard as he could in my back, and it was just thuds."
The investigation
In a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the stabbing case, police sources have confirmed that some fingerprints found at the actor's residence match those of the arrested accused, 30-year-old Shariful Islam.

The police arrested Shariful Islam on January 19, but the case sparked controversy on social media, with some questioning whether the real culprit had been apprehended. Certain media reports suggested that the fingerprints collected from the crime scene did not match Shariful's. However, a facial recognition test confirmed his identity, matching his face with images captured in CCTV footage.
Investigations have revealed that the accused had conducted a recce of the actor’s home before the crime. He had been working near the residence and had carefully observed the surroundings.
