A Mumbai Magistrate court has issued a notice to Bollywood actress Rhea Chakraborty in relation to the closure report filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case. Reportedly, the notice is a procedural step in the legal process, allowing the complainant a chance to raise objections to the investigating agency's decision to close the case.

The CBI had submitted its closure report in March 2025.

According to a report in India Today, during the recent hearing, Magistrate RD Chavan directed, "Issue notice to the original informant / victim / aggrieved person," and postponed further proceedings until Rhea is officially served.

The actress has been asked to respond to the notice by August 12.

In this case, it was Rhea who had originally filed the complaint, naming Sushant's sisters - Priyanka Singh and Meetu Singh - as well as Dr Tarun Nathu Ram. She had accused them of helping the actor obtain prescription medication without appropriate medical supervision.

According to Rhea, Sushant had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder but was irregular with his treatment, often discontinuing his medication. She expressed concern that despite his fragile mental state, his sister had facilitated the procurement of medicines for him through text messages.

Based on her allegations, an FIR was registered invoking various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Sushant Singh Rajput's death

The actor was found dead at his Bandra residence in Mumbai on June 14, 2020, and after years of speculation and investigation, authorities have now confirmed it was a case of suicide.

Additionally, Rhea was charged with procuring drugs for Sushant, leading to her arrest by the NCB, after which she spent a month in jail.

Meanwhile, Rhea was out of work for several years and in April 2023, she started the shoot of MTV Roadies season 19. She was one of the gang leaders on the reality show. She is also seen as a gang leader in the ongoing season of the adventure reality show.

On the film front, she was last seen in the 2021 thriller Chehre, which featured Amitabh Bachchan, Emraan Hashmi, and others.

Rhea and Showik have also started their clothing brand Chapter 2.
