Businessman Sunjay Kapur, who was also the former husband of actress Karisma Kapoor, passed away on June 12 while playing polo in London. After delays due to legal formalities, the late entrepreneur's funeral is set to be held in Delhi on Thursday (June 19).
According to a report in NDTV, Sunjay's last rites will be held at 5 pm on Thursday at the Lodhi Road Cremation Ground in New Delhi. While his children with Karisma are expected to attend the funeral, it is not known yet if the actress too will attend the last rites ceremony.

The bereaved family has also arranged for a special prayer meet on June 22, in memory of Sunjay, in Delhi. The official grief note shared by the family stated, "Jin logon ne Naam ka dhyaan kiya aur mehnat se jeevan bitaya, Nanak kehte hain, unke chehre ujwal hote hain aur anek log unke saath mukti paate hain (sic)."
The prayer meet will be held in Taj Palace in Delhe on Sunday. The note was signed by Sunjay's mother Rani Surinder Kapur, his wife Priya Sachdev and their kids Safira and Azarius, and also by the businessman's children with Karisma -- Samaira and Kiaan.
Sunjay died in the UK on June 12 while he was playing polo with his friends. He reportedly swallowed a bee while riding the horse and the insect got stuck in his throat, triggering panic and resulting into heart attack.
Sunjay got married to Karisma in 2003, but their marriage hit a rough patch soon after, and in 2016, they were officially granted divorce. In 2023, Sunjay and Karisma made a rare appearance in Mumbai together when they were spotted leaving a restaurant together post dinner.
During their divorce trial, Karisma had accused Sunjay of domestic abuse and she had even claimed that he had forced her to sleep with his friends on their honeymoon.
