While the entire film industry, including Karan Johar, Janhvi Kapoor, Anurag Kashyap, Alia Bhatt, among others, has praised the Netflix show Adolescence, filmmaker Sudhir Mishra has a different perspective. On Tuesday, the director of Serious Men questioned how the series had become number 1 on Netflix India. He asked the Indian audiences for their appreciation of the show.

Taking to his X (Twitter) handle, Mishra wrote, "How come Adolescence is the No 1 show on Netflix India . All conventional wisdom is against it. Indians are not supposed to like slow burners. It violates every rule of taught by bad scriptwriting schools. It spirals down instead of soaring up. It’s the best news in years."

Check it out:

After Sudhir's tweet, several users questioned his description of the show as a "slow burner," while others expressed that they found the series "too slow and not interesting."

A user wrote, "if the West likes it, we will generally watch it to virtue signal and sound cool at parties." Another said, "Each episode as a single take! Astounding. Is take ki subah nahin!"

Another comment read, "majority did not understand.. most of the people i know finished with conclusions on the lines of “see students do not respect teachers so this is what happens “. Lol."

Adolescence story:

Released in March, Adolescence follows the story of a 13-year-old schoolboy named Jamie Miller (Owen Cooper), who is arrested for the murder of his female classmate, Katie Leonard, at school. The four-part series delves into the investigation, exploring how the police, his family, his therapist, and a detective uncover the reasons behind his actions.

The cast also includes Faye Marsay, Christine Tremarco, Mark Stanley, Jo Hartley, and Amélie Pease.
