Actress Shweta Basu Prasad recently shared her experience of being 'bullied' on a film set due to her height. In one of her recent interviews, Shweta revealed that while working on a Telugu film, she faced constant remarks about her stature, which made her time on set difficult.
Recalling the incident, Shweta told Bollywood Bubble that her co-star was taller than her, standing at nearly 6 feet, while she is only 5'2. She revealed that the crew would frequently comment on their height difference.
Without naming anyone, Shweta also revealed that her co-star struggled with delivering his lines in Telugu, which led to multiple retakes. However, despite his own struggles, she found herself being criticised for something beyond her control.
"The entire crew every day would remind me of my height. Because my hero was quite tall. I'm 5'2, and my co-actor was 5'11 or almost 6 feet tall. It was the only set where I was really bullied, and it was very bad," she admitted. Expressing her frustration, the actress pointed out that height is a genetic trait, and there was nothing she could do to change it.
Shweta further said, "Even I wasn't fluent in Telugu, but I managed. Meanwhile, he, being a Telugu speaker, couldn’t get his lines right. Yet, no one called him out for it."
Shweta made her debut in the Telugu film Kotha Bangaru Lokam in 2008. She later starred in Telugu movies like Ride, Kasko, Kalavar King, Priyudu, and Genius. Her last Telugu film was Vijeta, which released in 2016.
Shweta also has had a notable career in Hindi films and television, with performances in projects like Makdee, Iqbal, Serious Men, and India Lockdown.
