Bollywood actor Shreyas Talpade has landed himself into a legal soup after a fraud case was registered against him and 14 others in Uttar Pradesh for duping people of crores under the pretense of a chit fund scheme.
The fraud was reportedly being operated in Mahoba district of Uttar Pradesh for the past 10 years. According to IANS, the accused ran a company named 'The Loni Urban Multistate Credit and Thrift Cooperative Society Limited,' which promised villagers lucrative returns on their investments. With those offers, 'agents' of the company allegedly lured crores from villagers, promising them that their investment would be doubled in a short time.
But when the company came under legal scrutiny, the agents allegedly shut shop and fled the district. Authorities have registered a case at the Srinagar police station, and an investigation is underway.

This is not the first time that Shreyas has been accused of fraud. In February, an FIR was registered against him and veteran actor Alok Nath in Uttar Pradesh after being accused of duping investors of Rs 9 crore. The two actors, along with five others, were booked in a fraud case at Gomti Nagar Police Station in Lucknow.
Prior to that, Shreyas, Alok Nath and 11 others were booked in a multi-level marketing fraud in Sonipat, Haryana.
Shreyas is yet to issue an official statement on the allegations.
