Popular YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, also known as BeerBiceps, has finally broken his silence nearly two months after the India's Got Latent controversy. On his YouTube channel, Ranveer shared his first podcast since the backlash and addressed the difficult phase and the advice he received from people around him.
During the episode, Ranveer opened up on the lessons he learned in the past few weeks. He said, "I've understood the world a lot in these three weeks. And I don’t mean this in a negative way. When such situations arise, people's true character is revealed. I saw a lot of good in people too. My close friends and mentors stood by me, and even people I had never met before reached out to help."
He also mentioned that some advised him to take a break from content creation for a year or two, believing that such setbacks might be a result of a series of long-term mistakes. However, Ranveer said that he built his career through hard work and would overcome challenges the same way.
"Some people said that I should take a break from content creation for 1-2 years because if something this bad has happened, it might be due to a long-term series of mistakes on my part. But I believe that I have reached this point through my actions and hard work. Toh agar iss daldal se nikalna hoga toh vo bhi action aur mehnat se hi hoga, I think (If I have to get out of this mess, it will also be through action and hard work," Ranveer added.
Towards the end of the video, Ranveer reassured his audience that he would now focus only on value-driven content. "I've recorded a lot of episodes related to mental health and spirituality. I love my work, and I hope you will continue to support our new chapter," he added.
What is the India’s Got Latent Controversy?
Ranveer faced massive criticism after a clip from one of the episodes of Samay Raina's India's Got Latent went viral. He had asked a contestant, "Would you rather watch your parents have sex for the rest of your life or would you join in once and stop it forever?"
Post the criticism, the Youtuber issued an apology stating that there was a "lapse in judgement" and that comedy was not his forte.
But the damage was already done and multiple FIRs were filed against him, along with Samay and the others on the Latent panel, and in the statement that he recorded with the cops later, Ranveer admitted that he was wrong. He apologised and vowed to be more careful in the future.
