YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, content creator Apoorva Mahija, and the producers of comedian Samay Raina’s show India's Got Latent appeared before the National Commission for Women (NCW) in Delhi on March 6 for questioning following a controversy over the use of obscene language on the show.
Addressing the media on Friday (March 7), NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar expressed strong disapproval of the language used, stating, "The obscene language they used in the show is absolutely indecent. The Commission will never accept it. Using such language is acceptable neither to the people nor to the Commission. I strongly condemn it."
Rahatkar stated that the NCW had swiftly taken cognisance of the matter due to its potential social impact and had issued notices to them, leading to their appearance before the panel on Thursday.
According to Rahatkar, the individuals involved expressed regret over their conduct, acknowledging that their choice of words was inappropriate. "All of them presented apologies before the Commission. They also said that they won't make any such mistake in future," she added.

"They said that they would be mindful of their words which don't hurt anyone. They would think before speaking. They said that this is the first and last time they did it. Ranveer Allahbadia and others said that what they said cannot be taken back but they would try to be mindful of their words in shows and speak of women's respect," the Chairperson said.
One of the episodes of India's Got Latent had drawn criticism for its controversial content, leading to a discussion about the boundaries of humour and decency in the name of entertainment and comedy.
Ranveer Allahbadia reaches Guwahati Cyber Police Station
On March 7, Ranveer reached the Cyber Police Station in Guwahati for interrogation regarding his controversial remarks on the show. He arrived for questioning after the Guwahati Police registered an FIR against him February 10, 2025 for promoting obscenity and engaging in sexually explicit and vulgar discussion on India's Got Latent.
India's Got Latent controversy
The entire fiasco erupted when Ranveer appeared on India's Got Latent as a guest, and during a segment, asked a contestant, "Would you rather watch your parents have sex for the rest of your life, or would you join in once and stop it forever?"
The supposed joke was not received well by netizens, who then bashed Ranveer, Samay and the others related to the show, and demanded strict action against them for "promoting vulgarity and obscenity online".
Multiple FIRs were filed against Ranveer, Samay and others, post which the YouTuber issued an unconditional apology stating that there was a "serious lapse in his judgement".
