Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Bigg Boss 18 contestant Tajinder Bagga lashed out at filmmaker-actor Anurag Kashyap for his controversial remark against Brahmins amid the ongoing Phule controversy, which has sparked a major row. It all started when Kashyap responded to a social media user saying, "Brahmin pe main mootoonga… koi problem?" (I'll urinate on Brahmins… any problem?).
On Friday, Tajinder took this X (formerly Twitter) and wrote, I request @MumbaiPolice to file an FIR against Anurag Kashyap and arrest him. Mentally unstable individuals like him are a threat to society and should not be ignored."

After facing backlash, Kashyap issued an apology, stating that his daughter, family, friends, and colleagues were receiving rape and death threats. He clarified that his apology was not for his post, but for a comment that was 'taken out of context'.
He wrote, "What has been said cannot and will not be taken back, but if you want to hurl abuses, direct them at me. My family has neither said anything nor do they speak out. So, if an apology is what you seek, this is mine. Brahmin community—spare the women. Even the scriptures teach that much sanskar, not only in manuwaad. Decide for yourselves what kind of Brahmin you are. The rest—from my side—apologies."
The filmmaker captioned the post, "Manuwaadiyon aur gair sanskaari brahmino ke liye. Maafi (Apology for the Manuwaadiyon and Brahmins without values)."
The outrage over Anurag's comment comes amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the film Phule, starring Pratik Gandhi and Patralekha. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) cleared the film with a U certificate on April 7 but demanded several edits, including the removal of terms like 'Mang', 'Mahar', and 'Peshwai', and modifying the phrase '3,000 saal purani ghulami' to 'kai saal purani ghulami'.
While director Ananth Mahadevan confirmed that all requested changes were made, Anurag strongly criticised the CBFC's actions.
