Television actress Dipika Kakar, who was diagnosed with stage 2 liver cancer, recently underwent a major 14-hour surgery. In her first vlog since the operation, she confirmed that she is now "free from the tumour" and shared her emotional reaction when the doctor informed her and her husband, Shoaib Ibrahim, about the diagnosis.
In her YouTube video, Dipika was heard saying, "Mujhe woh din hamesha yaad rahega, jab hum doctor ke paas gaye the to show him my CT scan. Tab tak AFP (Alpha-Fetoprotein tumour marker test) ki report aa gayi thi. Shoaib ko uska result pata tha, lekin usne mujhe nahi bataya. Jab tak doctor report check kar rahe the, maine Shoaib se poocha result ke baare mein. He just looked at me and said, 'Haan, usme gadbad hai.' Maine turant kaha, 'Mujhe report dikhao.' Aur jab maine report dekhi, toh samjha ki thodi nahi, balki bohot zyada gadbad hai."
Further, she revealed that at that moment in the hospital corridor, she broke down in tears—and so did Shoaib. She shared that her husband usually doesn't cry. Dipika said she hugged Shoaib and was crying out of fear after hearing the words "malignant" or "cancer."
"Uss waqt mere mann mein Ruhaan ko leke hazaaron dar the... bohot saari negative cheezein dimag mein aa rahi thi, galat khayal hi zyada aate hain. Par jaise hamesha, Shoaib ne mujhe zor se hug kiya aur mujhe himmat di," Dipika added.
Dipika stated that while her doctor was explaining about the diagnosis, the first thing she asked the doctor if it was malignant, and when the doctor said yes, she broke down badly, and so did Shoaib.
She also revealed that she had to stop breastfeeding her son, Ruhaan, in one night after she was revealed about her cancer diagnosis.
