Vishnu Prasad, the popular Malayalam actor, passed away on Thursday night in a Kochi hospital due to complications from a liver ailment. The news was shared by his close friend, actor Kishore Sathya, on social media. Kishore revealed that Vishnu had been undergoing treatment for fever for several days before his tragic death.
As reported by Onmanorama, Vishnu's family and friends were struggling to raise Rs 30 lakh for his liver transplant. His daughter had volunteered to donate a part of her liver, but they were still in need of the funds to cover the surgery costs. The Association of Television Media Artistes (ATMA) initiated fundraising, but Vishnu's condition worsened on Thursday, resulting in his death.
Several celebrities on social media mourned the loss of Vishnu and expressed their grief. Actress Seema G Nair, who shared the screen with Vishnu in the shiw Gokulam, penned a deeply emotional note recalling their long-standing bond. "Vishnu Prasad bids farewell... A bond of many years comes to an end. Our connection began when my son Appu was just six months old. Vishnu came to act as my brother in Gokulam, and that’s where it all started," she shared.
She also recalled her recent hospital visit where she tried to lighten the mood with jokes. "I cracked a few jokes, calling him a lone tusker, and he smiled. His wife later told me my visit comforted him. Their daughter was even ready to donate a part of her liver to save him," she added.
Vishnu Prasad starred in a number of movies, such as Kasi,Kai Ethum Doorathu, Runway, Mambazhakkalam, Lokanathan IAS, and Pathaka, among others.
