Thiruvananthapuram: Following an uproar from the Sangh Parivar, Malayalam superstar Mohanlal's blockbuster L2: Empuraan has gone back to the table of the Censor Board.

The movie, directed by actor Prithviraj Sukumaran, reportedly had scenes and dialogues that indirectly painted the BJP's role in the Godhra riots in poor light while going soft on those involved in violence against Ram Sevaks. The movie also reportedly had critical references against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, though his name is not taken.

According to sources, 13 scenes that had some controversial dialogues, written by actor Gopy, would be erased. Mohanlal, who had to face bulk of the criticism for accepting a role in movie, had little role in these dialogues as he appears only an hour after the start of the film.

Critics say it was Sukumaran and Gopy who decided to mix politics into L2:  Empuraan, the second part of the trilogy, Lucifer being the first, which largely remained apolitical.
