In stand-up comedian Kunal Karma's joke row, a 46-year-old banking professional from Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, had to cut short his 17-day trip to Kerala and Tamil Nadu after repeated calls from Mumbai Police, summoning him as a witness in a defamation case against Kamra. Despite informing the police about his pre-booked tickets, they asked him to be present, alleging that he might have edited Kamra's video, which had sparked a major backlash.

The banker was issued a notice on March 29 under Section 179 of CrPC, requesting his presence, according to Times of India.

Reacting to this, on Wednesday, Kunal apologised to the banker, writing, "I am deeply sorry for the inconvenience that attending my show has caused to you. Please email me so that I can schedule your next vacation anywhere you'd like in India."

On Monday, a team of Khar police visited Kunal's Mahim residence as he did not show up before them in connection with the FIR registered against him after calling Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde a "traitor" (Gaddar) during his Naya Bharat performance at Habitat Studio in Mumbai.

Kamra, later in the evening, mocked the officials for wasting time and public resources. He wrote on X: “Going to an address where I haven't lived for the last 10 years is a waste of your time and public resources…"

In the joke row, cops have begun recording the statement of the cameraperson who filmed Kamra's controversial Naya Bharat video, along with other staffers present during the shoot on February 2.

Kamra also faced three FIRs in Mumbai and is currently in Tamil Nadu. Last week, the Madras High Court granted interim anticipatory bail to the comedian.
