Actress Khushi Mukherjee, who is facing backlash for wearing bold risqué outfits and posing for paps on Mumbai streets, shared a video in which she is seen reciting the Hanuman Chalisa. On Monday (July 1), Khushi said she is a proud Bengali Brahmin and that she is connected to her roots and cultural background. Amid getting slammed for her appearances, Khushi said she shared the video for her supporters.
"I was born and brought up in a Bengali Brahmin family and I am very much aware of my cultural roots. I would like to recite the Hanuman Chalisa in front of everyone," Khushi is heard saying in the video which she posted on her Instagram account.

After reciting the devotional hymn, Khushi stated in the video, "By doing this, I didn't want to prove anything to anyone. I know people will still say a lot of bad things about me and troll me. I just wanted to let everyone know that just because I wear bold clothes, it doesn't mean I've forgotten Indian culture."

She wrote along with the video, "Just because I wear bold clothes doesn’t mean I have forgotten my cultural background. I am a proud Bengali Brahmin. And I know even after reciting this Hanuman Chalisa I am gonna get targetted and trolled by certain group of so called influencers/actors who so ever. But this is for all my supporters."

Khushi Mukherjee faces backlash
The model-actress has already been facing the heat of netizens for her risqué outfits and recently, Khushi was also slammed by the paparazzi. For those unversed, they lashed out at her for posing in such outfits and said that they were being unnecessarily targetted because of her antics.
It all began after Khushi was spotted in the city recently wearing a butt-flashing black outfit. Several celebrities and netizens demanded action against her for stepping out on the streets of Mumbai in 'indecent' outfits.
A section of netizens criticised her for what they called "vulgar fashion." In response, Khushi took to Instagram, asserting that she's inspired by Hollywood icons like Jennifer Lopez, Irina Shayk, and Paris Hilton.
Who is Khushi Mukherjee?
With a career spanning South Indian films, reality shows, and bold web series, Khushi is no stranger to controversy, or attention.
The 28-year-old actress began her acting career with the Tamil film Anjal Thurai in 2013. She later appeared in Telugu films like Donga Prema and Heart Attack, and the Hindi film Shringaar. However, her big break came through Indian television and reality shows.
She rose to fame with her participation in MTV's Splitsvilla 10 and Love School 3, where her fiery personality caught public attention. She also featured in popular TV shows like Baalveer Returns as Jwala Pari and mythological drama Kahat Hanuman Jai Shree Ram.
In recent years, she has become a known face in the world of adult-themed Indian web series, with appearances in Gandu (2019), Noorie (2020), Stranger (2021), and Jungle Mein Dangal (2024).
