Actress Kajol has finally ended her silence on the backlash that she has been receiving after her statement on Hyderabad's Ramoji Film City. Days after she called the studio "haunted", she clarified on social media on Monday that the place is "absolutely safe".

Kajol took to her X handle and wrote, "I wish to address my earlier remark about Ramoji Film City in the context of promoting my film MAA. I have filmed multiple projects at Ramoji Film City and stayed there many times over the years. I have always found it to be a very professional environment for filmmaking and I have seen so many tourists enjoying themselves. It’s a great destination and absolutely safe for families and children."

What did Kajol say about Ramoji Film City?

For those unversed, Kajol stirred a controversy after during the promotions of her film Maa, she called Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad "one of the most haunted places in the world".

While speaking about shooting at eerie places, Kajol shared, "Sometimes, when you go to a place, you feel like something isn't right. I've shot at places where I couldn't sleep all night. I felt like it would be better if I just left."

Citing Ramoji Film City as a 'prime example', she stated, "It's considered one of the most haunted places in the world. I've been lucky not to have seen anything paranormal, though."

However, her statement did not go well with the people of Hyderabad, who accused her of tarnishing the city and the studio's name. Many users called her statements "baseless" and accused her of disrespecting a place that has long been a source of pride for the city and the Indian film industry.

Kajol's upcoming movies

On the work front, Kajol is gearing up for the release of her film, Maa, which is a supernatural thriller. The film is set to hit the silver screens on June 27, and it will clash with the pan-India film, Kannappa.

Besides, Kajol also has Sarzameen in her kitty, co-starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and Ibrahim Ali Khan. The film was supposed to release in 2024, however, it has been delayed for reasons unknown.
