Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh, who is nearing the end of his blockbuster Dil-Luminati India tour, performed in Chandigarh for a packed venue on Saturday, and while at it, he gave a befitting reply to his haters and troublemakers in the trending Pushpa style. His veiled dig at his haters sent the crowd into a tizzy, and videos of the same have now gone viral.
In one of the videos, Diljit can be heard referring to Allu Arjun's film Pushpa. He asked the audience, "Do you know the film Pushpa? I have watched the first part, it's really nice." Pointing at himself, he went on to say, "There is this famous dialogue in it, 'Jhukega nahi saala'. Ab saala nahi jhukega toh kya jija jhuk jayega?"
Diljit's jibe came after his Dil-Luminati Tour stirred multiple controversies across the nation. It all began after the Telangana government banned his songs with references of alcohol and violence in them ahead of his Hyderabad concert, citing that they might corrupt the youth's mindset.
Later, the Bajrang Dal protested against his concert in Indore, calling for a ban on the open sale of liquor and non-vegetarian food at the venue.
Prior to his Chandigarh concert, the authorities announced a ban on his certain songs with mentions of alcohol. The advisory, issued by CCPCR chairperson Shipra Bansal on Thursday, specifically referenced songs such as 'Patiala Peg', '5 Tara', and 'Case', cautioning against performing even modified versions that promote alcohol, drugs, or violence.
The commission also prohibited him from getting children on stage during his performance. Not just that, but he was also asked to sing only till a certain decibel to prevent noise pollution.
During his concert in Ahmedabad, Diljit had challenged the government to ban the sale of liquor in the country. "You say my songs encourage the youth to consume alcohol. Fine. Today, I vow I will never sing another song in my life with references of alcohol if the authorities put a hard stop to the sale of liquor in the country. I know that won't happen because it generates revenue," he had said.
