'It's Exile, Not Kindness': Rupali Ganguly SLAMS SC Verdict On Delhi Stray Dogs, Says They Are 'Part Of Our Faith & Culture'

Television actress Rupali Ganguly criticised Supreme Court's judgement of sending all stray dogs of Delhi to shelter homes. Television actress Rupali Ganguly criticised the Supreme Court for passing a verdict ordering all stray dogs in Delhi to be moved to shelter homes. She said that the strays are not just our protectors but also part of our culture and faith.

The Anupamaa actress took to her Instagram handle on Tuesday and penned a note condemning the SC verdict. "In our traditions, dogs guard Bhairav Baba’s temple and are fed on Amavasya for blessings. They’ve grown up on our streets, guarding shops, waiting outside our doors, barking away thieves. If we remove them now, we risk losing our protectors before the real dangers arrive, like silencing an alarm before a fire (sic)," she wrote.

"Sending them to far-off shelters isn’t kindness, it’s exile (sic)," she added.

Rupali further stated, "Stray dogs aren’t outsiders; they’re part of our faith, our culture, our safety. Care for them, vaccinate them, feed them and let them live where they belong (sic)."

What did SC say about stray dogs?

The Supreme Court on Monday passed a judgement ordering local bodies to transfer all the stray dogs in the Delhi-NCR region to shelter homes. Not just that, but the apex court also mentioned that the authorities must make sure not a single dog escapes the shelter home.

The verdict is being criticised by animal lovers across the nation, and some activists also staged protests across Delhi against the decision. Not just the common people, but several celebs too reacted to the verdict, and condemned it.

Janhvi Kapoor, Varun Dhawan and Raveena Tandon called for mass sterilisation and vaccination of strays instead of locking them up in shelters. Dhanashree Verma urged locals to adopt more and more stray dogs and also to generously contribute to shelter homes, so that they can provide basic amenities to the strays.
