Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela's upcoming film with Anurag Basu, which was earlier believed to be Aashiqui 3, has been confirmed not to be part of the Aashiqui franchise. However, amid the rising success of Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda’s Saiyaara, rumours began circulating that Basu might reshoot Kartik's film due to similarities in the storyline. Now, Anurag Basu has finally responded to these claims.
Anurag Basu Reacts To Re-Shooting Kartik Aaryan, Sreeleela's Film
Speaking to Mid-Day, Basu said that the only similarity in Saiyaara and his film with Kartik is that the male lead is a rockstar, and the story is about his journey. He added, "In my film, the girl doesn’t have dementia or any [other condition]. We are not rewriting or re-shooting. I knew beforehand that the girl has Alzheimer’s (disease) in Saiyaara. So, why would I write the same (plot point) in mine?"
Anurag Basu Reveals Reason Behind Delay
Basu admitted that the film was originally planned for a Diwali release, but it has now been pushed to next year due to his packed schedule and continuity challenges. He shared that around 40 per cent of the film, featuring Kartik and Sreeleela, has already been shot.
In the next two months, he plans to shoot another schedule, during which Kartik will sport a clean-shaven look, as opposed to the heavily bearded look he had earlier.
The title and new release date of the film will be announced soon.
"He is currently shooting for Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri, in which he has a specific look. The continuity is the problem. He needs to complete that film; after that, by the month-end, we will lock the next schedule," added Anurag.
Meanwhile, the film, which is yet to be titled, is being produced by Bhushan Kumar's T-Series.
