Actress Chahatt Khanna is best known for her roles in popular television shows like Bade Achhe Lagte Hain and Qubool Hai, and for appearing in films such as Thank You and Prassthanam, among others. Recently, she revealed that she was replaced by an A-list actress in a project backed by a top studio, a decision that left her deeply heartbroken. Despite the setback, Chahatt expressed gratitude towards those directors and producers in the industry who still continue to support and work with outsiders.
In an exclusive conversation with the Free Press Journal, Chahatt said, "I lost a very good film because of an A-lister, aur woh industry ka best studio hai. Mujhe do saal pehle pata chala why I lost the film. Mujhe toh koi aur hi reasons diye gaye the, reasons are never on your face. Of course, everyone expects that, but fine. Be it! But khushi mujhe iss baat ki hai ki jiss ladki ko cast kiya gaya tha, woh aaj kahin nahi hai — wahi par hai. So I was like, good, I was not cast. I made my own way. Agar mujhe bhi cast karte, toh shayad main bhi wahi hoti."

She added, "I was heartbroken kyunki shoot ke do din pehle hi replace kar diya. Mujhe script ke saath bulaya gaya tha, ki reading hai, and then they told me to surrender the script. I am where I am not because of that project, but because of me. I’m happy wherever I am — thankfully, I did not do that film."
Further, the actress shared that in the film industry, it is very important to come from a filmy background, even if one doesn't know how to act, as acting can be learned. "Fir best gym chale jaoge jahan neeche paps bhi hote hain. Toh har cheez manage ho jaayegi, lekin aapko woh family se hona chahiye. Jab aap nahi hote ho, toh fir aap khud woh saari cheezein manage karte ho. Aur fir manage karte-karte agar aapko kaam mil bhi jaata hai, toh waha par aap replace ho hi jaate ho. Kyunki ek actor ki beti baithi hoti hai, jiske liye woh role consider kiya gaya tha. Toh yeh hota hi hai, that is a part and parcel of this game," she stated.
"Ab toh itne saare directors hai, humare producers hai, jo outsiders ke saath hi kaam kar rahe hain, and I love them! Ek yeh fraternity bhi hai, ek woh bhi hai, but I won't say I am juggling between both. I belong to an outsider. Meri next generation outsider nahi hogi," concluded Chahatt.
