Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty announced in a recent interview that his daughter Athiya Shetty has quit Bollywood for good. The actress, who marked her debut in 2015, had starred in just three films, and had been MIA since 2019.

During a chat with Zoom, Suniel was asked about his daughter's upcoming projects. To that, he replied that she has decided to quit acting, and also lauded her for her decision.

"She said, 'Baba, I don't want to', and she just left. And that's what I salute her for saying, 'I am not interested. I don't want to do films'," the Hera Pheri actor said.

"After Motichoor Chaknachoor, a lot came her way. 'But I don't want to. I am comfortable, you know?'," he added.

Suniel went on to say that Athiya is currently busy with the "best role" of her life -- motherhood. "Today, she's got the best role of her life. You know, she's working in the best film, and that is the life, the role of her mother and she's loving it," he gushed.

Athiya Shetty welcomes baby girl with KL Rahul

For those unversed, Athiya and Team India cricketer KL Rahul welcomed their first child on March 24, 2025, two years after their marriage. Announcing the name of their bundle of joy, they wrote, "Our baby girl, our everything. Evaarah/ इवारा ~ Gift of God (sic)."

"Evaarah Vipula Rahul. Evaarah, meaning Gift of God. Vipula, in honour of her great nani and protector. Rahul, her papa (sic)," Athiya wrote in a separate note, explaining the meaning behind her daughter's name.

Athiya Shetty's Bollywood career

Athiya marked her Bollywood debut in 2015 opposite Sooraj Pancholi in the film Hero, which featured a special song sung by none other than superstar Salman Khan. However, the song ended up being the only highlight of the otherwise flop film.

In 2017, Athiya starred in Mubarakan opposite Arjun Kapoor, which too tanked at the box office. Her last film was Motichoor Chaknachoor in 2019 with Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
